Watching LLMs Think - I learned early in my almost-PhD: don’t watch the program run. Staring at loss values—or an agent’s “Thinking…”—feels like work, but it isn’t. Kick off the job, step away, and use your brain for the human stuff.

Train Surgery - I took a hilariously loud, 4xAA-hungry toy train and gave it a proper glow-up: dropped an 18650 in the coal car, used a charger/protect/boost board dialed to ~5.5 V, and added a simple series pot as a volume knob. After some careful teardown, polarity sanity checks (center positive!), and an irresponsible amount of hot glue, it’s now rechargeable and actually pleasant to listen to. The motor clatter is the only thing the volume knob can’t tame—but the wheels go round and round, and I’m calling that a win.

Busy busy - Just landed back home after a couple US trips. It's time to roll up the sleeves and get busy now - have to update instructions for our 1.4 version, which isn't too different from 1.3 but with a few changes. Also, got to start working on 1.5. Let's do this!

Raspberry Pi temperature sensor - In just a bit of time, I managed to successfully get my temperature sensor, the DS18B20, up and running on my new Raspberry Pi. My starter kit even included a ready made circuit board for the sensor, making wiring a no-brainer. After following the setup instructions and inputting a few commands, voilà, my temperature readouts were coming in loud and clear. Ready to tinker around and perhaps even move the connection pin if needed.
